Management Events is a leading company in organizing executive meetings and events. Each year, more than 20,000 executives participate in Management Events’ gatherings across 11 different countries. Needseeker is a Management Events product that enables companies in need of services to meet several suitable service providers within a few efficient hours. For this new concept, an impressive event venue was required with an extremely tight schedule. Sini Haverinen from Visual Design Finland (VDF) Oy was chosen to handle the space design.

“In previous projects, Management Events had worked with VDF in design, so I was the first to contact Sini Haverinen. Our schedule was ridiculously tight, but Sini agreed to come on-site with only a 30-minute notice in the middle of summer,” describes Mirka Saarinen, a partner responsible for Needseeker, about the beginning of the design work. Saarinen emphasizes Sini’s commitment and swift action from the first phone call.

“We visited the empty space just half an hour after our initial call. Sini listened to our ideas, made observations, and suggestions about the space usage, and within a week, we had a plan that we didn’t want to change anything about. Unbelievable!”

Saarinen admires how well the designer captured fragmented thoughts and general ideas in the empty, gray space during a single visit.

Overall, Management Events had approximately three months to plan, build, and furnish the space before the first event. Now, the event venue Ruohis, located on the second floor of the Ruoholahti shopping center, is an elegant, subdued, and cohesive entity. The red Parisian café serves as a delightful splash of color and a place to pause. In addition to their own events, ME also rents out the space to companies for meetings, launches, and various corporate events.

“Speed was critical for us in this project. That’s why it was important that Sini quickly grasped the idea, and we could trust that the plans would come promptly, allowing us to put them into practice. Despite her speed, Sini was precise and absolutely committed to serving us. We are extremely satisfied, and our experience with her has been excellent. On the opening day, Sini even brought us a stunning flower arrangement as the icing on the cake.”

Based on her own experience, Saarinen cannot think of anything that needs improvement in Sini’s operations. “I really can’t say, I can’t think of anything. Although, despite inquiries, I haven’t received the invoice yet,” Saarinen chuckles.
